The Berhanena Selam Printing Enterprise (BSPE) Friday announced plan to cooperate with Sudanese Currency Printing Press to build capabilities to print Ethiopian Birr, electronic passport and cheque locally.
Speaking at a Security Printing Technical Conference, Enterprise CEO Teka Abadi said: “We believe the printing of currency, electronics passport and cheque locally will have great role in saving hard currency that our country spends. It is also necessary to localize them for economic and security reasons.”
According to him, the win- win relationship with Sudan Currency Printing Press and Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) Notasys will help each party to achieve their goals. “The printing industry is rapidly growing and the world is continuously applying new technologies from time to time. This makes the competition fierce and puts our local printing houses in a very challenging situation. We need to work together with companies engaged in security printing area,” Teka said.
Sudan Currency Printing Press General Manager Assistant Omer Ahmed Mokhtar on his part said that his company is committed to transfer know how through training, maintenance and development and other areas with BSPE.
The two Enterprises have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in the fields of technical support, training, capacity building and in areas that could help to build institutional capacities.
