On 28 February, the leaders of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda adopted a declaration, which among others, condemned “the recent attacks perpetuated by Al Shaabab in Mogadishu, Leggo, Janaale, and El Adde and, the continued asymmetrical warfare by this terrorist group against the Somalia government. The declaration acknowledges “the growing threats posed by Al Shabaab.”

Quoting an African Union (AU) official, BBC Friday reported that three Ugandan soldiers serving with African Union forces in Somalia (AMISOM) hunting the terrorist group Al-Shabab have been charged over the killing last month of a group of civilians at a wedding in Somalia.

Kenya terror clampdown targets NGOs – BBC

    The decision to target more than 500 organisations is bound to cause an uproar in Kenya, where many fear that the government is using the threat posed by al-Shabab to curb democratic freedoms, reports the BBC’s Wanyama Chebusiri from the capital, Nairobi.

Kenya has deregistered 510 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including 15 accused of links with terrorism, an official has said.
