Egypt has not recognised the legitimacy of Ethiopia’s Renaissance Dam or its specifications when both countries signed a principles of declaration document along with Sudan over the $4.2 billion project, a high-ranking official in Egypt’s irrigation ministry said.

Egypt’s president lays his nation’s defiant claim to undisturbed right of use of the Nile waters to repeated applauses in Ethiopia’s parliament

    It became another unexpected embarrassing day for the TPLF regime in Ethiopia’s parliament, which has witnessed so many shameful activities in the past two decades, as Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi told Ethiopian parliamentarians no one “should ever feel secure about his future without the other, or to build his welfare at the expense of his brother” to repeated applauses!

    Mr Sisi pointed out that Egypt “also has a right to development…the Nile “remains (our) sole source of water”.

 

ADDIS ABABA (AP) Ethiopia — Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el- Sissi on Wednesday urged Ethiopia’s leaders to put aside “centuries of mistrust” and cooperate on sharing Nile River waters as Ethiopia presses ahead with the construction of a massive new dam.

Full text of the ‘Declaration of Principles’ between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan have signed to govern Nile River water use

Editor’s Note:

    It is good an agreement has now been signed between the three countries on managing water use on the Nile River and its related aspects. However, the three countries also ought to jointly release the information for their respective peoples. Unfortunately, that has not been the case, at least, as far as Ethiopia is concerned.
