We congratulate both Argentina and Germany for the wonderful soccer and determined struggle each put up. This is not a matter of the ball being round, but the German team has excelled in a good finish. This blog salutes them for their success!

Finally thank you to both Argentina and Germany for the suspenseful night. Their tension, competition, skills and determination they have shown us during this match have given us better opportunity to finally get the World Cup spirit!

We learned from Fifa that the original trophy, named Jules Rimet Trophy, was awarded from 1930 to 1970. That original trophy, which used to circulate until one country wins three times is put out of circulation.

It has not been awarded to any country since 1974, having become by law possession of Fifa. Therefore, since 1974 Fifa has introduced the Fifa World Cup Trophy, which is 18 karat gold and weighs 6.1kgs.

Because of that each winning country now keeps the trophy and a replica is made for the next winner, with its predecessor victors’ names engraved at its bottom.
