Monsanto and the Bio-Tech Conglomerates: Sowing the Seeds of Famine in Ethiopia

    The World Bank has now set another target date to end poverty – 2030. Nonetheless, the fundamental question that should be asked is whether the World Bank is the right institution to be in the business of “eradicating poverty?”

    Does it have the goal and the political will “to help” developing countries “eradicate poverty?” Is it credible enough?

    Having witnessed its increasing “political role” in authoritarian Ethiopia, should it in the first place be allowed to continue pretending about doing “the poverty eradication” thing?

    What a foolish question to ask! Who am I asking, after all?

    The TPLF regime in Addis Abeba has long shown its determination to mortgage the country and its people to remain in power. This is what the World Bank has been facilitating and taking advantage of!

    As for me, I have long given up on the firm. I submit its footprints in so-called over 300 chronically non-self supporting Ethiopian districts and its so-called Productive Safety Network Programme (PSNP), designed in collaboration with the DFID and USAID!
