Major agreed areas of Ethiopia & Eritrea cooperation

As per the agreements reached on 08 July 2018 between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Isaias Afewerki Ethiopia and Eritrea signed memorandum of understanding (MoUs), among others, on the commencement of flights that have been defunct twelve years ago, the utilization of sea port and the re-opening of embassies in each others’ capitals today as of 09 July 201).

The five major pillars included in this Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship includes:

(1)The cessation of the state of war;

(2) Close cooperation in the political, economic, social, cultural & security fields;

(3)The resumption of trade, economic&diplomatic ties;

(4) The implementation of the boundary decision and;

(5) Collaboration on the maintenance of regional peace and security

The signing of the MoUs on these areas is expected to enhance the partnership.

ከዓለም ግንባር ቀደም የማዕድን ኩባንያ የሆነውና በአፋር ክልል በፖታሽ ማዕድን ፍለጋ ሥራ ላይ የተሰማራው ቢኤችፒ ቢሊተን የተሰኘው ግዙፍ የአውስትራሊያ ኩባንያ የጀመረውን ሥራ አቋርጦ ከኢትዮጵያ ሊወጣ ነው፡፡

ቢኤችፒ በአፋር ክልላዊ መንግሥት ከፍተኛ የፖታሽ ማዕድን በሚገኝበት በዳሎል አካባቢ የፖታሽ ማዕድን ፍለጋ ሥራ ለማካሄድ ከማዕድን ሚኒስቴር ጋር በገባው ውል መሠረት፣ ላለፉት ሦስት ዓመታት በተጠቀሰው አካባቢ የፖታሽ ማዕድን ፍለጋ ሥራ ሲያካሄድ ቆይቷል፡፡ ኩባንያው እጅግ ዘመናዊ የሆኑ የተለያዩ የከርሰ ምድር ጥናቶች ያካሄደ ሲሆን፣ በዳሎል አካባቢ የሚገኘውን የፖታሽ ክምችት መጠን ለማረጋገጥ የተለያዩ ጉድጓዶች ቆፍሯል፡፡

የሪፖርተር ታማኝ የዜና ምንጮች እንደገለጹት፣ ኩባንያው ወደ ምርት ሥራ ይገባል ተብሎ ሲጠበቅ ባልተጠበቀ ሁኔታ ሥራውን አቋርጦ ለመውጣት መወሰኑን ለማዕድን ሚኒስቴር ኃላፊዎች በቅርቡ አስታውቋል፡፡ ኩባንያው ውሳኔውን በጽሑፍ ለሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ አሳውቆ የመልቀቂያ ሥራዎችን በማከናወን ላይ እንደሆነ ምንጮች ገልጸዋል፡፡ በዳሎል አካባቢ ከ160 ሚሊዮን ቶን በላይ የሚገመት የፖታሽ ክምችት እንደሚገኝ ጥናቶች ይጠቁማሉ፡፡ ፖታሽ ለማዳበሪያ መሥሪያ የሚያገለግል ጠቃሚ ማዕድን ነው፡፡

በዳሎል አካባቢ የፖታሽ ማዕድን ለማልማት ከሚንቀሳቀሱ ስድስት ኩባንያዎች መካከል ሳይኒክ የተሰኘው የህንድ ኩባንያ፣ አላና ሪሶርስ የተባለው የካናዳ ኩባንያና ቢኤችፒ በቀዳሚነት የሚጠቀሱ ናቸው፡፡

ቢኤችፒ ሥራውን አቋርጦ ለመውጣት የወሰነበት ምክንያት ግልጽ አይደለም ያሉት ምንጮች፣ ዜናው ለሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ ትልቅ መርዶ ነው ብለዋል፡፡ በጉዳዩ ዙሪያ አስተያየት እንዲሰጡን የማዕድን ሚኒስቴር ኃላፊዎችን በተደጋጋሚ ብንጠይቅም ምላሽ ማግኘት አልቻልንም፡፡

የማዕድን ሚኒስቴር ባለሙያዎች ከደመወዝ ክፍያና ከአስተዳደር (ማኔጅመንት) ጋር የተያያዙ ቅሬታዎች በማሰማት ሥራቸውን እየለቀቁ ይገኛሉ፡፡ በዚህም የተነሳ የሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ ከፍተኛ የባለሙያዎች ችግር የገጠመው ሲሆን፣ አዲስ የማዕድን ፍለጋ ፈቃድ ማመልከቻ መቀበል ካቆመ አንድ ዓመት ሊሞላው እንደሆነ ለማወቅ ተችሏል፡፡

Saudi Arabia & Ethiopia raise their cooperation to higher level: Is current tension within Moslem community main agenda item?

Addis Ababa June 16/2012 Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held discussion with Saudi Arabian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Prince Abdulaziz Ben Abdullah on issues of common interest as well as means of enhancing relations between the two countries on Saturday.

The two sides have discussed as to how Saudi Arabia enhance its engagement in the area of trade, investment, security, economic, culture and other sectors.

They have also conferred how to work jointly in the area of peace and stability in the horn of Africa.

Currently, Saudi Arabia investors are widely engaged in various investment activities in Ethiopia.

Similarly, the Saudi Arabian deputy FM has also held discussion with the Deputy Premier and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hailemariam Dessalegn on mutual concerns.
