    TEO is glad that the whole wide world has been noticing what the EU has been doing in Ethiopia – at its worst assisting and facilitating dictatorship and murderers in power.

    The day Ms Mogherini visited Ethiopia, TEO had terrible heartburn – just because of the repeated hypocrisy the top leadership of the Union has been exhibiting in Ethiopia and elsewhere in Africa.

32nd Human Rights Council session urged to take action on serious human rights violations in Ethiopia

on Wednesday June 22, 2016, at the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), Human Rights Watch (HRW) participated in the General Debate under Agenda item 4: Human Rights situations that require the Council’s attention.

HRW informed HRC that it is “deeply expressed concerned about several human rights situations that have either been inadequately addressed by this Council, or on which the Council has remained largely silent.”

In that respect, it mentioned four countries by name – Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Thailand and Yemen – mostly where these violations have taken place.

A little over twenty days from now, the United Nations General Assembly at its resumed 70th session is scheduled to elect five states members to serve on the Security Council a two year term as non-permanent members. Beginning January 1, 2017, the elected five states would join the other 10 in the Council to preside over the question of international peace and security and the dangers of war wherever, in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

GENEVA — International law prohibits torture under all circumstances, yet it remains a widespread practice. Doctors, psychiatrists, lawyers and other experts met Friday at the United Nations in Geneva to exchange views on how to stop torture and how to tackle the long-lasting suffering of victims.

    We receive information through the social media that the shooting, beatings, torture and killings are continuing in Oromia region. Over four hours ago, we received information from the social media . Accordingly, in East Walaga, Digga district, Arjo Gudetu village, Agazi soldiers have fired on protesters wounding the following people last night: (a) Gamachu Alamu Tasama, shot on his back; (b) Zerihun Jiregna Bayana, shot on the stomach and (c) Birhanu Kebede Sando, shot on his leg. These victims are currently being treated at Naqamte Hospital. Two of them are in critical condition.
