Can aid reform end Ethiopia’s repeated hunger emergencies?

Editor’s Note:

    TEO has been writing for several years now that PSNP is simply a palliative, not solution to Ethiopia’s drought, poverty problems and continuing food insecurity. The problem is systemic, now under the TPLF, official corruption, state violence and capital flight. In terms of monies, it has been using the nation’s resources strictly t benefit the warlords in power and their families and allies, not toward national development that benefits the people – not in petty projects that benefit.

    The TPLF in power is serving its interests, dividing the country into ethnic groups and bantustanizing the nation. How could national leadership without national loyalty unite the people and help them become full participants in the affairs of the nation? How could there be development in such a situation.

FAO defines undernourishment as condition in which a citizen “is not able to acquire enough food to meet the daily minimum dietary energy requirements, over a period of one year.” In that sense, for FAO, chronic undernourishment is the other name of hunger.
