የአሜሪካ ኮንግረስ የኢትዮጵያ ሰብዓዊ መብት አያያዝን አስመልክቶ በቀረበለት የውሳኔ ሐሳብ ላይ ድምፅ እንዲሰጥበት፣ በአሜሪካ የሚገኙ የሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች ጥያቄ አቀረቡ፡፡

የሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋቾቹ ጥያቄያቸውን ለኮንግረሱ በደብዳቤ ያቀረቡት፣ ኮንግረሱ በውሳኔ ሐሳቡ ላይ ለመወያየት የያዘውን ቀነ ቀጠሮ ባልታወቀ ምክንያት በመቀየሩ መሆኑ ታውቋል፡፡

ኮንግረሱን በቀረበለት ኤችአር 128 በመባል በሚታወቀው የውሳኔ ሐሳብ ላይ እ.ኤ.አ. ኦክቶበር 2 ቀን 2017 ለመወያየት ቀጠሮ ይዞ የነበረ ቢሆንም፣ ባልታወቀ ምክንያት ቀነ ቀጠሮው መሰረዙን የኮንግረሱ የጊዜ ሰሌዳ ያሳያል፡፡ ይህንን በመቃወም በኮንግረሱ ላይ ተፅዕኖ ለመፍጠር ደብዳቤ የጻፉት ዘጠኝ የሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች በጋራ በመሆን ነው፡፡
